Trump Surges with New York Hispanic Voters: Poll Shows 15-Point Gain Since 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 28, 2024) – Cygnal, one of the nation’s fastest growing and most accurate private polling firms, released the following New York statewide poll (conducted Oct. 26-27) of 600 likely general election voters.

“Trump is capturing 15 percent more of the Hispanic voters in New York state than in 2020,” said Pollster and Director of Political Strategy, Mitch Brown. “This is a trend we continue to see across the country where Trump has made significant gains among Black and Hispanic voters, especially non-white working-class voters. Trump also has a more favorable view among undecided voters in the New York senate race which could have a more positive impact on Mike Sapraicone’s U.S. Senate campaign and other down-ballot races.”

Here are Brown’s top takeaways:

Governor Hochul Image: unfavorable (50%); favorable (37%).

Presidential Race: Harris (57%); Trump (39%); undecided (4%).

Senate Race: D-Kirsten Gillibrand (55%); R-Mike Sapraicone (34%); undecided (10%); LaRouche Party (1%).

Vote Method: vote in-person on Election Day (50%); vote early in-person (27%); already voted (20%); vote absentee by mail (4%).

Top Issues: threats to democracy (22%); inflation and the economy (20%); illegal immigration and border security (20%); abortion protections (11%); crime and public safety (8%).
