Healthcare Costs Loom Large in 25 Competitive Congressional Districts

Rising healthcare costs are a top concern in the fight for the House. Cygnal’s survey of 1,000 likely voters across the 25 most competitive congressional districts finds 71% say healthcare costs have risen over the past year, and 52% say rising costs are extremely or very important to their vote. The survey shows a lack of extending the enhanced premium tax credit exacerbates the issue.

Key findings:

• 71% want Congress to reinstate the expired enhanced health insurance premium tax credits—including 50% of Republicans and 70% of independents.
• 67% say letting the credits expire was a mistake.
• 58% say they would be more likely to support a congressional candidate who backs extending the credits.
